Zofija Mazej Kukovič, MEP fromSlovenia, emphasized the need yesterday in a debate on the taxation of energy products and electricity, to adjust planned taxation during this time of crisis.
Despite Mazej Kukovič’s support of a low-carbon society, she considers in addition to protecting the environment, important in these times to focus attention on industrial policy. It is time for policy to send a good signal to the economy without additional burdens.
Mazej Kukovič in her one minute speech, said: “As a long time businesswoman, I especially feel this economic crisis, which affects businesses today and feel for the businessmen, who have no significant impact on external factors. Employees are naturally worried about their jobs.
“In this direction, I greatly agree with the rapporteur and give her all the recognition. Her report supports progress and also wants keeps in contact with reality.”
MEPs supported the report by Astrid Lulling (European People’s Party) in the vote today. With this resolution, the European Parliament has called for a transitional period until 2025, until which the price of diesel fuel will not be burdened with additional taxes.
